Origin of Surabaya
Long
ago there were two predators in East Java. A giant shark named Sura and a giant
crocodile named Baya. Sura is a stubborn and greedy giant shark.
One
day Sura wanted to find food somewhere other than the sea. Sura found the river
where Baya lived.
Sura : "It seems that there is good food in this river."
Seen
by the river there is a deer. Sura ate the deer and returned to the sea again.
The
next day Sura returned to the river to look for the deer again. Suddenly there was
Baya who confronted Sura.
Baya : "You are the one who hunts my
food! No wonder my food is reduced. Isn't there enough fish in the sea for
you?"
Sura : "I only took a little. Besides, I'm tired of the taste
of fish."
Baya : "This is my territory, you go!
or I will beat you!"
The
battle lasted for days. The two predators were exhausted and ended the fight
with a territorial border agreement.
Because
Sura still wants to eat deer, Sura returns to the river where Baya lives. When
Sura arrived and saw a deer on the bank of the river and intended to eat it.
Not long after that, Baya came.
Baya : "Why are you here again? How
stubborn and greedy you are, I will beat you up!"
Baya
immediately attacked Sura's tail by biting it. Sura felt pain because Baya bit
Sura's tail.
